Alternative hypothesis for the development of the geodynamic process in the catastrophic earthquake Tohoku-Oki (Japan, 11.03.2011)

V. N. Tatarinov

Abstract

The Tohoku-Oki earthquake, which occurred on 11.03.2011 in the vicinity of the eastern coast of. Honshu, attracted the attention of scientists by the uniqueness of the experimental data on the coseismic and postseismic vertical and horizontal displacements of the Earth’s crust. These data gave impetus to the construction of various models and hypotheses for the development of the geodynamic process in this region. Below is an alternative hypothesis about the geodynamic sources of catastrophic earthquakes in this region.
